Great Barrier Reef and White Sundays: a blue Pacific marvel

The Great Barrier Reef, a World Heritage Site, stretches over 2,000 kilometers at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean: this coral massif is so vast it can be seen from space! The Great Barrier Reef is home to tens of thousands of species of colorful tropical fish, sponges and corals of amazing sizes and colours, as well as whales, dolphins and turtles.

Boats leave daily from Cairns and Port Douglas. The trip is very affordable, and it is possible to make your first dive there. And what a baptism! It is undoubtedly the most beautiful diving spot in the world, which you will remember for a lifetime… You can also extend the experience over several days to explore the less frequented corals or you can even become a marine biologist for a day.

Another tropical paradise: the Whitsundays archipelago, which deserves all the superlatives. Shaped like a crescent, Whitsunday Island is the largest mountainous island in the archipelago. The azure and transparent sea, beaches with soft and white sand that one rarely sees in his life, and extraordinary underwater fauna make for a place that is more breathtaking than a postcard. The Whitsundays can be discovered by boat during an excursion, on a charter sailboat, or by sailing from island to island. A unique experience to enjoy day and night.

Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast: Living the Great Australian Way

We have a soft spot for “Brissie,” as her residents affectionately call her. Mild climate all year round, relaxing tropical atmosphere, vibrant nightlife…. Brisbane has the makings of a mega city while remaining cool, welcoming and fun to live in and to visit. The city center can be discovered on foot in a couple of hours, and it’s nice to stroll along the river along the well-developed banks. The cultural capital of Queensland, the city also offers a variety of very interesting museums, architecture, and restaurants. We never get bored there.

Brisbane is a good starting point for exploring the Sunshine Coast, 100km to the north. With 300 days of sunshine a year and its endless golden sandy beaches, it’s a perfect stopover. The hinterland isn’t short of attractions either: there are national parks dotted with 4×4 trails, lakes, mountains and tropical forests, not to mention the gorgeous Glass House Mountains with their unforgettable waterfalls and hiking trails.

Experience an eco-safari in the heart of the Noosa Everglades (one of two Everglades in the world), discover eucalyptus forest, mangroves and various waterways. Between Lake Cootharaba and Fraser Island, it is one of the most diverse ecosystems in Australia with over 44% of all Australian bird species.

Those who love to feast will stop in the small towns of Montville and Maleny, appreciated for their charming bistros and signature restaurants.
