In Australia, police use an electric shock on a 95-year-old woman in a nursing home

A 95-year-old woman is in critical condition after being targeted with a taser by police in Australia. The old lady was armed with a knife. She was threatening in a retirement home.

Australian police admitted on Friday that one of their officers used a taser in a nursing home on a 95-year-old woman, who is now in a “critical condition”. Police said in a statement that police were called to a nursing home in New South Wales on Wednesday to subdue a woman “who was carrying a knife”.

“The officers tried to talk to the woman,” she continued. “During this interaction, an experienced officer used his taser, causing the woman to fall and hit her in the head.” The old woman was taken to Koma district hospital in the south of the state, where she is in a “critical condition,” according to the police.

According to the Daily newspaper The Daily Telegraph Sydney and other media said the woman, Claire Noland, a mother of eight with dementia, was walking on her walker while brandishing a knife when police arrived.

Police said they had opened an investigation into the “serious incident”.
