An Australian gold prospector has made a startling discovery in Victoria: a huge gold nugget worth $160,000. explanations.
This giant golden nugget was discovered in an area called turn triangle, between Ballarat, Bendigo and St. Arnaud. Darren Camp, a member of the Lucky Strike Gold prospecting shop, has reportedly estimated that the gold-bearing rock weighs just over 4.6 kilograms and the precious metal at 2.6 kilograms.
This finding is quite impressive given that gold prices are currently at record levels. Moreover, the state of Victoria in the 19th century was one of the greatest gold rush locations.
In recent years, gold prospectors have discovered more and more gold in this region of the world. The Geological Survey of Victoria estimates that there could be up to 2.1 million kilograms of undiscovered gold in the central and north-central parts of the state.
