It also makes it easier to access accounts from another device if the phone is lost or stolen.
To enable cloud sync of two factor codes, it is necessary to update the authentication app on Android and iOS. The Google support page provides more information about this feature, which ensures that codes are automatically saved and reset on any new device used when signing in to a Google Account.
